About This Quote

When Koro Apirana becomes sick, he becomes very weak. Both he and his wife Kahu have been married for a long time and have had their share of children. But, Koro Apirana has a strange condition called ‘Tularik’ which means the inability to get pregnant. This is a very painful condition for him and his wife Kahu as they have never been able to conceive a child of their own.

However, one day, Koro Apirana’s wish is granted as he finds himself impregnated with a child from his brother-in-law Ulukalala! The child was born stillborn and the whole family mourns the loss of their child. As time passes, Koro Apirana begins to forget about his son and Kahu soon forgets about the child as well. But on the day of a family funeral, Koro Apirana remembers his dead son and so does Kahu.

They were brought back together again by memories of their lost child.
